Cost & Fares
How much does a taxi from Tunbridge Wells to Gatwick cost?
Fixed fares for August 2026: saloon car (up to 4 passengers) £58, estate car (up to 4, extra luggage) £65, 8-seater minibus (up to 8) £75, two-vehicle convoy (up to 14) £133–£170. These are total vehicle fares, not per-person. Split between four passengers, the saloon works out at £14.50 each.
All fares are fixed at time of booking. No surge pricing, no peak uplift, no hidden extras.
Do you charge more for early morning, night-time, or Bank Holiday bookings?
No. Our fares are fixed regardless of departure time, day of week, or Bank Holiday. A 4am pickup on Christmas Day costs the same fixed fare as a midday run in July. There are no surcharges, no night rates, and no peak-season uplifts. The price you are quoted is the price you pay.
Is the fare the same for Gatwick North Terminal and South Terminal?
Yes. We charge the same fixed fare for both terminals. Please confirm which terminal you need at time of booking so we can drop you at the correct entrance rather than the central bus station. If you are unsure of your terminal, your airline’s website or booking confirmation will show it.
Is the fare per person or per vehicle?
The fare is per vehicle, not per person. A saloon at £58 carries up to four passengers for that one price. Split between four, that is £14.50 per person — typically cheaper than the equivalent train fare per person, with no changes and no luggage handling at stations.
How much is a taxi from Tunbridge Wells to Heathrow, Stansted, or Luton?
Call 01892 249 999 for a fixed quote to any airport. As an indication: Heathrow is approximately £90–£110 (saloon), Stansted approximately £110–£130, and Luton approximately £120–£145. Exact fares depend on your specific pickup postcode and are fixed at time of booking.
Booking & Service Area
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 24 hours ahead to guarantee your preferred vehicle type. For early departures before 6am, 48 hours is advisable. For 8-seater minibus and convoy bookings, 72 hours’ notice is recommended.
We do accept same-day bookings when vehicles are available — call to check. We cannot guarantee vehicle type on same-day requests.
What areas do you cover?
We serve the full TN1–TN4 postcode zone: Royal Tunbridge Wells town centre, Southborough, High Brooms, Rusthall, Speldhurst, Bidborough, Pembury, Fordcombe, Langton Green, Groombridge, and Frant. The same fixed fare applies across the entire zone regardless of your specific street address.
For pickups from Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Crowborough, or Uckfield, call us to confirm a fixed fare. We can accommodate these by arrangement.
How do I make a booking?
Call 01892 249 999 — available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can also use the booking form on this website. We will confirm your fare, pickup time, and vehicle immediately, and send an SMS with your driver’s name and vehicle registration within minutes.
Do you serve all four London airports?
Yes. We serve Gatwick (45–55 min), Heathrow (approx. 1 hr 15 min), Stansted (approx. 1 hr 30 min via the M25), and Luton (approx. 1 hr 45 min). Gatwick is our primary and most-booked route. Call for a fixed fare quote for non-Gatwick destinations.
Can I book a return journey as well?
Yes — and we recommend booking your return at the same time as your outbound to lock in the fixed fare and guarantee a vehicle. For the return journey, give us your airline, flight number, and scheduled landing time. We will monitor the flight live and adjust if it is delayed.
What is your cancellation policy?
Call us as soon as you know your plans have changed. We do not charge for cancellations made at least 2 hours before the scheduled pickup. Same-day cancellations within 2 hours may incur a fee depending on whether your driver has already dispatched. We are reasonable and will always discuss the situation with you.
Journeys & Luggage
How long does the journey from Tunbridge Wells to Gatwick take?
Door-to-terminal drop-off from Tunbridge Wells town centre takes 45–55 minutes in normal traffic via the A264 and M23. From Southborough or Pembury, allow 50–65 minutes. From Rusthall or Speldhurst, 50–60 minutes.
We factor in traffic patterns for your departure time and add buffer where needed. For early morning runs before 6am, the journey is typically at the shorter end of this range.
What happens if my flight is delayed on the way home?
We monitor your inbound flight live via FlightAware. Your driver adjusts their arrival automatically — you do not need to call. The fixed fare includes up to 60 minutes of delay at no extra charge.
Delays beyond 60 minutes are handled by an agreed waiting rate discussed before it applies. We have never left a passenger stranded at Gatwick.
How much luggage can I bring?
Saloon car: 2–3 standard suitcases (up to 70 × 45 × 25 cm each) plus hand luggage for up to 4 passengers.
Estate car: 4–5 large suitcases plus hand luggage for up to 4 passengers.
8-seater minibus: Generous luggage compartment carries all bags for up to 8 passengers.
If you are unsure whether your bags will fit, call and tell us roughly what you have. We will advise on the right vehicle and there is no extra charge for luggage within the vehicle’s capacity.
Are child seats available?
Yes — child seats and booster seats are provided at no charge with 48 hours’ notice. Infant seats (for under-12 months) require 72 hours’ notice. Please tell us your children’s ages when booking so we fit the right seat.
Under UK law, children under 135cm or 12 years old must use a child seat or booster in a private hire vehicle where one is available. We take this seriously and always have the appropriate seat fitted before the driver arrives.
Do you carry passengers with reduced mobility or wheelchair users?
Please call to discuss your specific requirements. We can accommodate passengers using walking aids and folding wheelchairs in the estate car or minibus with advance notice. For electric wheelchairs or larger mobility equipment, let us know at time of booking and we will confirm which vehicle is suitable. Our drivers are trained to assist passengers boarding and alighting.
How and when do I pay?
Payment is made to your driver at the end of the journey. We accept cash and bank transfer. Card payments are available on request — please confirm at time of booking. No deposit is required at the time of booking.
Licensing & Trust
Are your drivers and vehicles licensed?
Yes. All drivers hold a current private hire driver’s licence issued by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976. All vehicles carry a current private hire vehicle licence plate from the same authority. You can verify a driver’s licence by asking to see their driver badge, which all licensed drivers are required to carry.
Are your drivers DBS-checked?
Yes. All drivers hold an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate, which is a legal requirement for private hire drivers in England and Wales. Certificates are renewed annually. Council licensing also requires drivers to declare any new convictions between renewals.
Are you insured to carry passengers?
Yes. All vehicles carry hire and reward insurance, the specific class of insurance required by law for private hire passenger journeys. Standard social, domestic, and pleasure insurance does not cover paying passengers. Our cover does, for every journey, every vehicle.
How do I know the driver who arrives is genuine?
When you book, we send an SMS with your driver’s name and vehicle registration before the pickup. On the day, your driver will know your name and destination. If anything does not match — name, plate, or destination — do not get in and call us immediately on 01892 249 999. Licensed private hire vehicles in England must also display their licence plate and the operator’s details.
Questions People Actually Ask
Real, specific situations — written the way people actually search for them.
I have a 6am flight from Gatwick and I live in Pembury. What time should I book the taxi for?
For a 6am departure, most airlines recommend arriving at least 2 hours before — so aim to be at check-in by 4am. From Pembury to Gatwick South Terminal takes roughly 50–55 minutes. Allow 10 minutes to get from your door to the car, so a pickup at 3:00–3:10am gives you comfortable time.
We run 24 hours and the early morning fare is the same as daytime. Book the night before and your driver will be there on time.
We are a family of 5 with a buggy, 4 large suitcases, and 3 cabin bags. What vehicle do we need?
An estate car at £65 will likely handle 4 large cases, 3 cabin bags, and a folding buggy (boot + rear footwell). If the buggy is a travel system (larger frame), an 8-seater minibus at £75 gives you dedicated luggage space and is more comfortable for 5 passengers on a 50-minute journey.
Call us with the approximate sizes and we will confirm which is the right fit before you commit.
My flight from Malaga lands at Gatwick at 8pm but there are weather delays. How do I not get left behind?
You do not need to do anything. Give us your flight number when you book (EZY1234 or similar). We check FlightAware in real time from about 2 hours before your scheduled landing. If the delay goes beyond 60 minutes, we will call you to agree how to proceed — your driver will not leave without speaking to you. The fixed fare covers the first 60 minutes of delay; after that we agree an extension rate before any additional charge applies.
Is it actually cheaper to take the train from Tunbridge Wells to Gatwick?
For a solo traveller with carry-on only, an off-peak advance train ticket can be cheaper than the £58 solo taxi fare. For two or more passengers, the taxi wins on total cost: two train tickets at peak rates cost £30–£44 combined, against a shared taxi at £29 each. For 4 passengers, the taxi at £14.50 each comfortably beats four train tickets.
The train also requires 1–2 changes (East Croydon or Redhill) and adds 25–45 minutes of travel time versus the direct taxi. See our full taxi vs train comparison for the detailed breakdown.
I want to book a taxi for my elderly mother who lives in Speldhurst. Can I pay and set everything up from a different address?
Yes, this is something we handle regularly. Call us with your mother’s address, her pickup time, and her mobile number. We will send the SMS confirmation directly to her phone with the driver’s name and plate. The driver will knock, assist with bags, and ensure she is settled before departure. You can pay by bank transfer on her behalf. Just let us know the arrangement at time of booking.
We are a hen party of 9 heading to Gatwick for an early flight. Do you do group bookings?
Yes. Nine passengers travel in our two-vehicle convoy for a combined fixed fare of £133 — around £14.78 per person, significantly less than nine train tickets at peak rates (£135–£198 combined). Both drivers depart together from the same address (or two nearby addresses) and arrive at the same terminal at the same time.
Book with 72 hours’ notice for group convoys. Call 01892 249 999 to arrange.
